Defective drill rig
December 10, 2024Dylan Buchman, 21, was using a Diedrich D-50 Truck Drill Rig while performing work for his employer. He became entangled with the rig’s auger and suffered severe injuries that led to his death.
Buchman’s estate sued C.K. Drill, LLC, which had purchased the business assets of Diedrich Drill, Inc., approximately five years before the incident; and Diedrich Drill, Inc., a/k/a Lange, Lange & Arnold, alleging strict liability and negligence. The plaintiff asserted that the defendants had designed, engineered, manufactured, and sold a defective drill rig that led to Buchman’s wrongful death.
The parties settled for approximately $210,700.
Citation: Buchman v. C.K. Drill, LLC, No. 22-cv-1537-bhl (E.D. Wis. Feb. 1, 2024).
