Failure to retain competent staff

November/December 2024

Temeh Shore fell in the bathroom while allegedly receiving home health care services from JEVS Care at Home and JEVS Human Services. She was admitted to a hospital, where she was diagnosed as having a fractured right hip that required surgery. She later died and is survived by her two adult children.

Shore’s estate sued JEVS Care at Home and JEVS Human Services, alleging failure to retain competent staff and implement fall prevention care. The plaintiff also alleged failure to use reasonable care in the maintenance of equipment used for home health care.

The parties settled for $185,000.
