Dangerous condition at casino

July 18, 2024

Louis Catiller was using a slot machine at the Red Rock Casino Resort Spa when a door to the machine swung open violently, striking his right knee. Catiller, who had previously undergone a total knee replacement, was recommended to undergo revision surgery. His medical expenses were approximately $13,500.

He sued Station Casinos, LLC; NP Red Rock; and others, alleging the defendants negligently permitted a dangerous condition at the casino and failed to warn or otherwise make the premises safe.

The jury awarded approximately $251,800, including over $20,400 in prejudgment interest.

Citation: Catiller v. Station Casinos, LLC, No. A-20-819530-C (Nev. Dist. Ct. Clark Cnty. Jan. 4, 2024).

Plaintiff counsel: Joshua Berrett and David Finegold, both of North Las Vegas, Nev.
